What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a safe, controlled treatment that intensely exfoliates and resurfaces the skin using a steam of non-allergenic crystals to remove the skins outermost layers of dead cells.
How does it work?
A wand delivering a fine jet of abrasive crystals will be passed over the skin. Dead skin particles will be abraded away and a vacuum action will remove the debris. This dual action will both resurface the skin and stimulate the blood flow, encouraging the skin to rejuvenate itself and produce collagen and elastin. After passing across the skin area once, our Aesthetic Therapist will then target problem areas like open pores, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and acne scarring.
Does it hurt?
No. Microdermabrasion is a progressive rather than aggressive treatment, during which you’ll feel completely relaxed and pampered with no discomfort.
Used to treat?
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dull tired looking skin
- Acne
- Uneven skin tone
- Pigmentation and Blemishes
- Stretch Marks
Are there any side-effects?
Your skin may feel a little tight following treatment occasionally with a mild redness. These effects will normally subside within 24 hours of the treatment.
Sometimes microdermabrasion can trigger a healing crisis in problematic skin, such as an acne breakout in acne sufferers or pimples for those with congested skin. This is a sign that the treatment is taking effect. This temporary reaction will subside and great improvements will be seen over subsequent treatments.
As always with any advanced treatments our Aesthetic Therapist/Practitioner will ensure to check certain conditions which may not be suitable for this treatment.
How long will results last?
A course of treatments is recommended initially, and then regular maintenance treatments will achieve the best results of over a longer period of time.
Our Aesthetics Therapist will determine your individual needs and devise a treatment plan to achieve the results that you require. Microdermabrasion is progressive rather than aggressive, so skin layers are gently removed over the course of treatments. Treatment plans can vary from a single ‘beauty boost’ treatments to courses of 6 to 20 treatments initially being carried out every 7 to 10 days.
